Thursday, June 8th - Totara Park - Botanic Gardens

On a wonderfully blue but chilly Manurewa morning, 15 WOPers led by Jill, set off on a 13.5km walk in the picturesque 280-hectare Totara Park and Auckland Botanic Gardens.

Our walk took us along Fat Mans Mountain Bike Trail, through gorgeous bush and farmland to the Botanic Gardens which, including Totara Park, holds 10,000 species of plants from across the world. On the home stretch, we were greeted by a rare herd of Canadian Spotted Grey cows. A photo op was had before we contentedly mooved on home (ba-dum tish). All in all, a beautiful and eye-opening walk as WOPs reveals, once again, what’s available on our own doorstep here in Auckland City.
